What Is Wood Veneer?
Wood veneer (decorative veneer) consists of thin sheets of wood sliced or peeled from a log, typically ranging from 0.3 to 0.6 millimeters in thickness. When applied to a stable substrate-such as plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF)-it creates a decorative surfacing material. The process begins with the selection of high-quality logs, which are then processed into veneer through slicing or rotary cutting. These veneers are sorted by color and grain pattern, precisely joined together, and bonded to the substrate using adhesives under controlled temperature and pressure. The resulting surface is indistinguishable from solid wood in both appearance and texture, while benefiting from the dimensional stability provided by the engineered substrate.
